The project of clearing explosive remnants of war (EOR) at the location where the International Specialized Exhibition „EXPO BELGRADE 2027“, will be held, on the territory of the municipality of Surčin, was carried out in accordance with the International Mine Action Standards and the current legislation of the Republic of Serbia.

The area cleared of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and put to use amounts to 1,239,582.2 m2.

The works were carried out in three phases:

Phase I: The surface was searched and cleaned to a depth of 0.5m, with the removal of ferromagnetic objects.

Phase II: It was necessary to determine the existence of anomalies that indicate the possible presence of EOR up to 3 meters deep using the passive recording method.

Phase III: Active surveying of the surface to identify the EOR also at the depth of 3 meters.

During the clearing process several unexploded ordnances were identified.

All works were carried out in accordance with the defined procedures, with strict adherence to the criteria for safe execution of the works, which resulted in the successful completion of cleaning the surface from EOR within the set deadlines.

During the implementation of the entire project, more than 40 deminers were engaged.

By scouting the entire terrain and clearing it of UXO, the safe construction of infrastructure facilities for maintaining the„EXPO BELGRADE 2027“ was made possible.
