Millennium Team, as a socially responsible company, donated the sculpture “Water Flower” by prominent Serbian sculptor Aleksandar Zarin to the National Museum of Serbia. A significant bronze sculpture, inadequately kept for decades in the Belgrade Hotel “Jugoslavija”, will complete The Yugoslav Sculpture Collection at the National Museum.
The sculpture was cast and placed as the central part of the fountain during the opening of the hotel in 1969. At the time the hotel was purchased in March of this year, it was found in a neglected state and inaccessible to visitors.
„This donation is part of our mission to contribute to the community and create lasting value.“ We are satisfied that the Aleksandar Zarin’s sculpture will receive the treatment it deserves, worthy of witnessing the rich history of Serbian art,“ says the Millennium Team representative.
Director of the National Museum of Serbia, Bojana Borić-Brešković, emphasized the importance of donors for the enrichment of museum collections and the preservation of cultural heritage, stating that every gift to the museum represents a lasting legacy for future generations.
The sculpture „Water Flower“ bears the characteristics of the time and culture in which it was created and represents an important example of the Serbian modern sculpture development in the 1960s. Millennium Team’s donation enabled a new life for this important piece of art, which will first be conserved, restored, and then, in all likelihood, exhibited in the National Museum of Serbia.
Hotel „Jugoslavija” has another landmark – an imposing chandelier made of 40,000 Swarovski crystal elements. This unique object served as an inspiration for the architectural design of the future hotel, and due to its originality, it will be revitalized and preserved as a reminder of the representative past of the place.
