Vujko: Domestic companies are the mainstays of the investment cycle that lies ahead

Stojan Vujko, CEO of Millennium Team, participated in the Kopaonik Business Forum, where he was one of the panelists on the topic “Infrastructure development under the rising interest rates”.

Development of infrastructure encourages further growth of the economy and from the point of view of the national economy, it cannot be viewed as a separate sector. Stojan Vujko, CEO of Millennium Team, pointed out that domestic companies are the mainstays of the investment cycle that lies ahead.

“All the large infrastructure projects that we are implementing, and which are to be implemented in the future, are crucial for us, since in addition to the references and knowledge that we acquire in this way, it is also an opportunity for domestic companies to enter the foreign market. Domestic companies can now compete with foreign companies and respond with quality to all requests and deadlines,” said Vujko.

In 20 years, Millennium Team has positioned itself as a leader in the construction industry. By implementing large infrastructure projects Belgrade Waterfront, energy projects of gas pipelines and gasification of cities, so far, we have completed more than 2,500 km of gas pipeline network in Serbia, waste water purifiers, and we are now implementing the Clean Serbia project in four cities, and Metro, Expo and National Stadium are underway.

“In the last 10 years, the state has had a clear investment strategy, we have large and significant projects in Serbia, where domestic companies participate with a minimum of 49%, and sometimes more, in the construction of infrastructure projects. This therefore shows that we can do it and that we know it. It is important for domestic companies to have stability, to know in which direction investments are moving, in order to adapt our strategy. I believe that synergy with faculties and institutes, where science and business come into contact, is the key. We have 1,800 employees, 450 engineers, 17 PhDs, the key is investing in knowledge, because that leads to success” said Stojan Vujko, CEO of Millennium Team, whose group includes 21 companies.

The panel dedicated to infrastructure was led by Dragijana Radonjić Petrović, Vice President, Serbian Association of Economists and the discussion was attended by Goran Vesić, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Government of the Republic of Serbia, Nicola Pontara, Country Manager for Serbia, World Bank, Nikola Đukić, President of the Executive Board, UNIQA Non-life Insurance and Filip Boras, Partner, Baker McKenzie.

The Kopaonik Business Forum has traditionally been held for 25 years and gathers renowned experts and eminent names from the domestic and regional economic and political scene. The central theme of this year’s Forum is ” New Global Context: Challenges of an Uncertain Future “.
