For the first time in 96 years, the building belonging to the Institute of Neonatology has been thoroughly reconstructed and refurbished. Thanks to a EUR 250,000 donation by Millennium Team, the building constructed in 1925 received the look it deserves. The authentic shape has been preserved and the works were conducted with the approval of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Serbia.
Up to recently, the building was fitted with original windows from 1925, and, through this donation, in addition to the new façade and the replacement of all the wooden fixtures, the building has received windows with special curtains, while entry doors and wooden elements have been restored and faulty air condition units have been repaired or replaced. A new reception desk was also made, the wrought-iron gate was repaired, as was the fence and embossed ornaments around the building. The Counselling unit building and other auxiliary facilities located at the premises belonging to the Institute also received new façades, doors and windows.
“Rare are the companies that take this approach to social responsibility, and which do so with such dedication. This donation is really a precedent, both in terms of volume, the initiative, the proactivity and the passion of all employees who took part in the project, and, above all, in terms of insisting on the highest possible quality of works. I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the Institute of Neonatology, to express our immeasurable gratitude to Millennium Team, whose substantial donation has made it possible to improve the working conditions at the Institute in every way, providing big support to employees and helping this 96-year-old building extend its life, preserve its authenticity and receive a new glow, becoming a nicer home to our little patients,” said Director of the Institute, Dr. Milica Ranković Janevski.
In the year when it celebrates 18 years since first launching operations, Millennium Team wanted to make a contribution to the community it operates within, and especially help the youngest patients, our little heroes, spend their first days in better conditions.
“There is no need to explain the motive behind the wish to support such an institution, which takes care of our most beloved ones – the mothers and the newborns. The Institute really deserves better conditions than the ones it had up to now, which is why I can say, on behalf of Millennium Team and myself personally, that we are very happy to have had the opportunity to provide a helping hand. The most important thing is that we have used modern and high-quality solutions to provide better conditions for the treatment of children and the accommodation of their parents. We are also proud to have preserved the building’s original look, as it represents a beautiful testament to the old Belgrade. As a company, we consider such things our responsibility, to preserve tradition and, at the same time, work on improving the quality of life of all our fellow citizens, and especially the youngest ones,” said Ivan Bošnjak, Deputy General Manager of Millennium Team, regarding the completion of the reconstruction works.
Approximately 4,000 babies are born prematurely in Serbia every year, and around 1,000 of them spend their first days at the Belgrade Institute of Neonatology.
